5 Indie Visual Novels Featuring Clowns

For our debut, we’re bringing you some honkin’ good indie visual novels that feature colourful and clowny characters. Between an evil jester confining you to a wagon and a dressed-up pizza jokester, these fun little stories will have you clownin’ around for more.

Project Pizzaro Deep Dish

A delightful and delicious read! Project Pizzaro Deep Dish is a tasty tale featuring Anne Chovy (yes, that’s her real name!) and a sad (but optimistic) clown named Pizzaro. As the unexpected duo navigate through the silly little world of Cal Zone, they encounter some lovely (and not-so-lovely) characters who have storylines of their own. Will Pizzaro have a pizza (piece of) your heart, or will you be feeling cheesy for someone else?

Jester Under Pressure

A certified ringleader's favourite is Jester Under Pressure, a Filipino visual novel that takes place in a Filipino-inspired setting. Not only do you get to learn the history of the seven kingdoms comprising the Filippinas archipelago, you'll also have the opportunity to learn Tagalog along the way thanks to the game's built-in glossary. A delightful and enjoyable narrative soup worth a slow and savoury sip.

Don't Toy With Me

If a box housing a clown shows up at your doorstep, will you greet it with open arms? Maybe you can find your answer when you play Don't Toy With Me, a melancholic tale of two lovable (and flawed) toys navigating a dollhouse. Between the bright (but uptight) Dahlia and the somber (but huggable) Huxley, this story will have you and your heart in a spiral.

Trapped with Jester

Never did I think I would put myself in a situation where I’d be waking up in a wagon with a clowny-looking fellow, but Trapped with Jester sure delivered on it! If you’ve got room for a bite-sized tale, this one will do the trick (and the jester might, too). It’s got multiple endings, too — just in case you decide you’d like to stick around and  spend a little more time with your seemingly-fun-and-abnormally-smiley friend.

Semiaquatic Circus

You've heard of surf n' turf, but what about a semiaquatic? Half land and half sea is what you can expect when you visit the lovely Semiaquatic Circus, a magical place that quickly becomes the home of newly-cirqued member Capella. It is here that you'll get to know the residents of the circus, and you may find that circus performances are more than just pretty shows.
